We at Tokai University consider it our social mission to share the intellectual property we have produced through university research with society as a whole.

The university actively pursues collaboration among industry, government and academia while ensuring that the university’s intellectual properties are protected in accordance with rules formulated in 1996 on dealing with industrial property rights at Tokai University. The Head Office of Research Support and Intellectual Property Management was established in 2008 along with its sub-office – the Innovative Collaboration Center – to encourage organic interdisciplinary collaboration within the University, and to promote strategic and functional collaboration with industry, government and other academic institutions.

Collaborative projects are handled by the Center’s administrative staff and project managers, all of whom have expert knowledge and experience in working with companies on industry-academia collaboration projects in 5 specialized fields including medical, biotech, IT, mechanical & electrical engineering, and chemistry. When necessary, we also seek the professional assistance of legal consultants, patent attorneys and financial analysts. The Center plays an increasingly important role in the building of Tokai University’s collaborative relationship network.

Tokai University is committed to increasing accessibility to our intellectual property, enhancing the control we have over that property, and organizing our team to keep pace with the changing times.

We will continue in our effort to release information about Tokai University’s research and intellectual property, in order to promote greater needs-oriented collaboration between industry and academia, and to build a better society.
